Meet our team
Val Prisecaru, MS CN LDN
My journey into the realms of nutrition, genetics, and wellness began in suburban Los Angeles, California in the 90s while going to UCLA. It is during that period of my life that I met several key people including Dr. Lloyd Stenbeck and others, who all helped introduce me to natural medicine philosophies. I went on to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I earned my Bachelor’s (1999) and Master’s Degrees (2002) in Food Science and Human Nutrition, while heading my first human clinical trial exploring how snack/energy bar macronutrients and ingredients influence blood glucose, satiety, and energy levels. We also considered serologic markers linked to ABO/DBH activity.
Following my Master’s degree, I continued my graduate studies deciphering oncological genetic pathways, assessing the impact of dietary lectins on human health, and imaging food crops through nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and near-infrared (NIR) techniques. I gained significant knowledge as a research assistant at the AFC-NMR and NIR Microspectroscopy / Dr. Baianu Laboratory. I later transitioned to the private sector, dedicating myself to wellness, health coaching, as well as several entrepreneurial ventures. I will share this personal journey, along with many other ideas and concepts, in future blogs and newsletters.
Since 2018 I have invested my energy in a fantastic TeleHealth service (Atlas Genetics Inc.), consultancy work (including Designs for Health, DataPunk, SelfDecode, and others), and innovative genetic and microbiome systems development. I made strides in multi-omics-based Covid-19 protocol development, being the first to launch such a protocol in November 2020 in Illinois. Version 8.0 of this groundbreaking protocol is expected to be launched in October 2024.
Starting in 2020, I began serving as Professor and Program Director of Nutrigenomics at John Patrick University of Health and Applied Sciences (jpu.edu). This role has allowed me to shape future minds in the field. I’m also the in-house genomic consultant and product development team member at Designs for Health (designsforhealth.com), the number 1 voted, most doctor-trusted nutraceutical company in the US. I’m also conducting independent research, collaborating on several bioinformatics projects, and developing multi-omics protocols to help empower people and help them take control of their own health. In addition, I am currently a doctoral student at the University of Bridgeport in their Doctor of Health Sciences (DHSc) program.
I strive to deeply understand the power of foods, supplements, lifestyle choices, light and sound therapies, and mindfulness on promoting and optimizing health and well-being. I am dedicated to sharing this knowledge with as many people as possible. Over the past 30 years, I have pursued this mission and hope to continue for at least another 30. My journey into cultivating body, mind and spirit has only just begun. Every experience provides valuable lessons, and I continuously explore recent scientific literature as well as older studies, books, and ancient philosophies to uncover new insights and rediscover long-forgotten evidence. A significant part of my work involves translating complex multi-omics scientific concepts into practical principles that anyone can understand and apply long-term. I currently live in central Illinois with my wife Renee and our three children. Please join me in this vital pursuit of truth and knowledge!
